Today is sequential, 11-12-13 ha ha!

People get so wrapped up in numbers, worship numerical coincodences. So people in the media have been making a big deal about today's date, which like a whole string of years from 2001 to 2012 form sequences of month, day, 2-digit year. Such as 01, 02, 03; 02, 03, 04; .... 11, 12, 13; and 12, 13, 14, that ends the sequence for this century. Of corse this scheme fails in the EU whre the date goes first or results in a differnt set of date matches, and noone has considerd other date schemes like when is JD 2,500,000?

What happened to SAF?

I was reading an old web page I wrote in March 2008 about my dissatisfaction with Sensory Aids Foundation (SAF) which was in Sunnyvale and a job developer contractor for the California Department of Rehabilitation, Subsequently, SAF lost its contract, which was most of its funding and went out of business. I remember the news story about them going out of business, but I don't remember, now, exactly when that was. It might have been in 2009 or 2010.

I might have had some effect on this, because I wrote an email to the Comission for Rehabilitation that oversees the agency, and described my dissatsifaction with the non profit. One thing that annoyed me greatly was that the people there were pushing closed source accmmodations centered on Windows systems and ignored by information that there were Linux opensource alternatives. I had by that time seen Knoppix whose founder, Klaus Knopper, had put together a good collection of accmmodations for his wife, who is blind.

More on Leg Warmers

They help, but I have to remember to take them off as they restrict circulation a little bit.

I tried Koding, but it is not a free web server

It could be, but although it has all the pieces for using a shell in a terminal to maintain a web site with dynamic, program driven, pages. The server takes itself down after 15 minutes, for security reasons, it claims, but I think it is to keeep the commercial web hosts happy. I will keep it as a test platform where I don't have to worry about installing and configuring the basic software. PhP, Perl, Python, and Ruby are all there and of course, javascript.

On Facebook I started up Social Fixer, again

Provisionally, I tried the plugin I stopped using a week ago, to ask as question about friends list, which was answered. If the volume in the support page gets large again, I will quit it again. The background on this is that I have confluded that it is the volume of posts on pages and the blog design that breakes Facebook. Facebook needs to adope a fourm design if it wants to really deal with large volume discussions, those that are more than about 15 posts.

Facebook tried to kill Social Fixer because it didn't want SFx revealing the history of friends, especially that you have been defriended. I got into trouble with the SFx support people because I showed how one could create diffs of friend's lists from successive saves of their preferences file. In the mean time Facebook has prevented SFx from keeping that info and has added complexity to the list, making it harder to track. Now, I don't care about knowing the history of my friends list, but others were asking and complaining about the feature going away, so I decided to solve the problem to shut them up. I got into trouble for describing how I did this. So, I turned off Social Fixer and had a good alternative, a dark theme, which I might bo back to using, but I enabled SFx again to test if the info in the preferences file was still good, it isn't, because I had unfriended some people and they were still in the file. Just out of curiosity I might dump my Facebook settings, which is supported by Facebook, to see the list of my friends. I have to go to a page of UNIX commands I created and point out that the commands don't work.

I am rsurectering my ueuo.com web site

Fortunately, the site I created is still out there. It has history going back to 2005 and I will add this page to that. I really don't like the web-based editor there, but it does work. I would perfer to have a shell where I could run emacs, like I can on Koding, but to have persistant web pages,
